LAW CLERK

HIRING SALARY: $15-$18 PER HOUR

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Office of General is currently accepting resumes to hire an OPS law clerk for the fall/spring/summer. Duties are not limited to but may include: conducting legal research relating to state and federal laws, draft final orders and pleadings to prosecute violations by licensees, assist with administrative rulemaking, and assist with trial preparation and informal hearing preparation. This position is for a maximum of 20 hours a week and rate of pay is between $15.00 to $18.00 per hour. We are looking for rising 2L-3L students. Position Description

The Department of Business and Professional Regulation is currently accepting resumes to hire OPS law clerks (rising 2L – 3L). The rate of pay is $15.00 – $18.00 per hour for a maximum of 20 hours a week.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Performs legal research which may include use of automated research services, department specific databases, and other research methods.
  • Prepares memoranda summarizing results of legal research and may recommend particular course of action to attorney.
  • Works with attorneys and regulatory staff on various projects, including file review and analysis.
  • Drafts and prepares closing orders and pleadings, and other written documents.
  • Drafts and prepares administrative complaints, correspondence, pleadings and other written documents.
  • Assists attorneys with trial preparation, including depositions and other discovery, gathering and organizing exhibits, documents, trial data, and any other required materials for litigation at DOAH (formal hearings), and attends hearings.
  • Assists attorneys with preparation for informal hearings before Department hearing officer, including file analysis.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned, such as answering phones.
