Description
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Crime Laboratory is hiring an Office Specialist, Principal. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Forensic Science Laboratory is an ANAB accredited ISO/IEC 17025 testing laboratory that provides forensic services to 35 law enforcement agencies, the Minnesota State Patrol, and multiple federal law enforcement agencies. The laboratory is dedicated to assisting the Hennepin County criminal justice community in enhancing public safety through the provision of thorough, accurate, and unbiased forensic services to our customers.

Location and hours:
This position is located in the Forensic Science building at 531 Park Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55415. Typical work hours will be Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
About the position type:
This is a full-time, benefit earning position.
All crime lab personnel are required to have a buccal sample collected for the purpose of generating a DNA profile to be included in the laboratory DNA contamination database.
This position is internally classified as an Office Specialist, Principal.

In this position, you will:
- Support the operation of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) where you will:
- Create new master case folders and section case folders.
- Prepare, file, and maintain laboratory records.
- Input, retrieve, and edit information stored in computerized systems.
- Process and verify information on records, documents, and forms.
- Distribute laboratory reports.
Need to have:
- One of the following:
- Three or more years of office clerical experience.
- 30 months or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training
- A combination of office clerical experience and post high school education, totaling 3 years or more (3 semester credits = 1 month).
Nice to have:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat DC.
- Experience:
- Creating fillable forms using Microsoft Office Suite programs and Adobe Acrobat DC.
- Using an electronic record management system.
- Working with confidential and/or sensitive information for an accredited organization and/or following written policies and procedures.
- In a medical laboratory, forensic laboratory, or law enforcement setting.
- Providing customer service.
