Primary Objective
Responsible for designing and implementing a program curriculum for students ages 50+ and adults with disabilities of varying skill levels at Creekside Community Center.
Examples of Duties

  1. Create a positive and welcoming learning environment that fosters connection and growth.
  2. Develop and implement a curriculum for classes that aligns with the skill levels of students.
  3. Manage classroom logistics including the tracking of supplies.
  4. Track the attendance of participants via attendance forms and assist with the tracking of liability waivers.
  5. Provides support as needed for all participants and staff to create an inclusive environment.
  6. Works to ensure the program’s compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Minnesota Human Rights Act.
  7. Attends and participates in all relevant staff trainings and meetings.
  8. Follows staff policies and procedures.
  9. Ensures that all participants follow the established policies and procedures.
  10. Completes all other duties as assigned by Community Center Manager and staff.
  11. Adhere to and enforce state health guidelines.

Minimum/Desirable Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Must be 16 years of age or older.
  2. Must successfully pass a Criminal Background Check.
  3. Must have demonstrated experience related to program offerings.

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. High School graduate with experience teaching art, either in a classroom or in a private setting.
  2. Proven experience working with adults ages 50+
  3. A willingness to learn about and support people with disabilities so they can participate fully in City sponsored Parks and Recreation programs.

Ongoing Part-Time employees who are employed for more than 6 months will make contributions to the pension program (PERA) through payroll deductions unless they qualify for one of the exemptions. In addition, Part-Time may receive Paid-time Off (PTO) at rate outlined in employee handbook and eligable for paid parental leave after 6 months of employment.

Temporary/Seasonal employees do not receive benefits.
