About the Department

The Executive Education Center originated in Ann Arbor, MI, USA in 1935 and by the 1940s was offering an array of courses, workshops, and conferences with an overwhelming response from corporations. Today, the Center offers approximately 30 different public program offerings and a variety of custom programs annually serving several thousand business executives around the world. We deliver programs globally, wherever our corporate clients request. We are proud that both our open enrollment and custom programs for Executive Development are highly regarded. Job Summary

The Portfolio Director has responsibility for the success of an assigned set of Open Enrollment Executive Education Programs. Success is measured by customer satisfaction, financial results, and other criteria identified as important to the Ross School.

You will report to the Managing Director of Digital and Open Enrollment Programs. You will work with a) internal and external marketing specialists, b) fellow program directors, c) program managers, d) faculty directors and faculty instructors, executive coaches, and representatives from partnering organizations. They support the faculty director on program design to ensure Ross EE standards are met. Have budget and margin responsibility for your portfolio and each individual program in it. They, along with the faculty director, have responsibility for participant satisfaction. Identify companies that are regular senders and use a Key Account approach to sustain and grow the accounts. The program director is the internal expert on your set of programs. You will know the program content thoroughly, and will understand the target audience, the reasons they attend, and the benefits they and their organization(s) gain from program participation.

Responsibilities

Revenue and Margin Generation

  • Meet with companies to discuss their leadership and talent development needs and offer solutions comprised of open enrollment programs wherever it makes sense. Develop strategic account plans and manage relationships as main accounts.
  • Establish relationships with individuals who are attending or want to attend programs, discuss their development needs and offer solutions comprised of Ross programs where applicable.
  • Work with marketing leaders (internal and external experts) to develop comprehensive, multi-faceted marketing plans for each program offering; analyze results of the marketing efforts; adjust marketing efforts according to previous results.
  • Respond to incoming requests for information about the program.
  • Attend events for networking activities; speak/present at events.
  • Work with program managers and faculty directors to create program proformas and to ensure program expenses are on budget and margin targets are met.

Portfolio Management and Continuous Improvement

  • Understand the competitive landscape and executive education trends.
  • Work with Executive Education leadership and faculty directors to evaluate programs and portfolio performance, determining which programs are kept and which are eliminated from or changed within the portfolio.
  • Work with faculty to design and incorporate new pedagogically sound activities to include in existing programs, following Michigan Ross’s standards for active/action learning. In short, co-create meaningful learning experiences in the open enrollment arena.
  • Help manage faculty/instructor talent pipeline.

Customer & Client Satisfaction; Quality

  • Work with program managers on program execution, participant engagement, and budget management.
  • Take a lead role in follow-up and management of corporate senders, including faculty.
  • Follow up to ensure programs meet participant expectations; make adjustments.

Special Assignments

  • Participate in projects relevant to the promotion and improvement of Executive Education/Ross School of Business including, special projects

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 8 years of experience preferably in a corporate learning or executive education environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Client relationship development with executives and learning leaders in large global firms with well-developed learning strategies
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and practices
  • Experience designing programs and learning experiences

Salary Information: The general salary range for this position is $83,000 – $92,000. You can expect to be paid a competitive and equitable salary. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor alignment and transparency throughout the recruiting process.
