POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a full-time senior level technical position that reports to the Division of Information Technology Services, Bureau of Production Systems Services. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is seeking a candidate to join and lead our Email Operations team as a Microsoft Exchange Administrator. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the agency’s on-prem Exchange environment, email security gateway appliances as well as other Windows Server administration functions and duties. The Candidate must have a thorough working knowledge of Exchange administrator roles, duties, and daily performance operations. This administrator will also take part in evaluating, planning, migrating, deploying, and managing Microsoft Exchange 2019. The position also requires excellent facilitation and customer service skills.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- The operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of a Microsoft Exchange 2019 enterprise environment (<3000 users). Additional responsibilities include supporting the agency's email security gateway appliances and mail archiving system. The candidate will also provide systems administration responsibilities across a wide array of Windows Server based technical services;
- Installation/Configuration of Microsoft Exchange, Implementation and management of Exchange High Availability technologies (e.g. DAG’s, Clustering), Practical knowledge of SMTP routing, Active Directory/LDAP, and DNS, Mail Routing, Exchange and SMTP Troubleshooting, IIS (Internet Information Services) Administration, Troubleshooting, Remote Server, Application Mail Relay, Backup and Restore, Disaster Recovery concepts and Patch Management; and
- This position requires the candidate have at least 3-5 years of hands on experience with the following products: Scripting (PowerShell), Microsoft SQL Server, Dell PowerEdge Server management, Microsoft Outlook Management, CISCO Mail Security Products, – Windows Server 2016/2019- VMware Enterprise Virtualization and Migration – Exchange Server Migration (to include mailbox migrations).
To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in computer systems analysis or computer programming; or
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or management information systems and one year of experience in computer systems analysis or computer programming; or
- A doctorate from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or management information systems; or
- A high school diploma or its equivalent and six years of experience in computer systems analysis or computer programming; or
- Any combination of education or experience, as described above, for a total of six years.
- Completion of a 720-classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing* can substitute for one year of the required education or experience.
- Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing* can substitute for one year of the required computer systems analysis/administration or computer programming education or experience.
Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of coursework from an accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of experience.
*Data entry excluded in data processing experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge in creating PowerShell scripts for, custom software implementations & configurations and advanced troubleshooting;
- Knowledge in maintaining and configuring email security gateway appliances;
- Knowledge of email archiving principles and practices;
- Skills in implementing email security enhancements and server/OS hardening;
- Skills in maintaining Active Directory configurations as it pertains to email functionality;
- Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and counterparts both internally and externally to the agency and provide technical assistance and advice on complex activities;
- Ability to work independently or with a team;
- Ability to utilize problem solving techniques;
- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and document work assignments; and
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.
BASE SALARY:
