Responsibilities
In support of the Operational, Planning, Implementation, and Assessment Services (OPIAS) contract, Peraton is seeking a team manager for the Operationally Dynamic Information Network (ODIN) analytics cell.
- The manager will be tasked with applying artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled tools such as machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP) towards supporting sentiment and narrative analysis, as well as evaluating the information environment (IE).
- They will also be experienced in leading a diverse team of linguists, social scientists, and data scientists providing support to government customers and embedded analysts, assessments personnel, and planners.
- The ODIN Team Manager will ensure that their team translates empirical research findings into United States Government operational assessments for a variety of Combatant Command (CCMD) J39s and other government customers.
- Prior leadership experiences, preferably with USCENTCOM, USINDOPACOM, and USEUCOM is a highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the completion of assessments of the IE, managing OPIAS research personnel and projects associated with the ODIN, and working for with the OPIAS Task 4 (Analysis and Assessments) chief to implement their vision across government customers. Additionally, the ODIN Team Manager will be expected to support the government client with various forms of direct analytics / assessment support, to include briefing findings to a broad array of customers (including senior leaders and government analysts).
Roles and responsibilities for this position include:
- Oversee team efforts to conduct assessments of the information environment, applying a combination of opinion research data, operational reporting, social media insights, and artificial intelligence-enabled analytics (e.g., via Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing).
- Implement the OPIAS Task 4 Chief’s vision for analysis and assessments using the AI-enabled ODIN platform and ensure that those efforts are aligned to / track with OPIAS Task 4 initiatives across the globe.
- Manage a diverse team of subject matter experts (SMEs) / analysts to complete ODIN-based assessments.
- Work with team social scientists, to include other OPIAS Task 4 managers in order to create/complete innovative social science research initiatives, educate staff on proposed responsibilities, collect results from the implemented tasks, and report to senior-decision makers.
- Prepare status reports, assess project issues and risks, and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
- Identify appropriate data in order to analyze and integrate findings into wider command assessment objectives.
- Review / analyze statistical data received from team members, other agencies, and Peraton native assets, and author summary reports and/or present oral briefings for senior leadership.
- Review studies conducted by similar organizations and determine reliability, validity and other strength factors for potential use in theater.
- Work independently or in collaboration with social scientists supporting government elements across the globe.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in political science, international relations, area studies, behavioral sciences, sociology, geography, anthropology, or other related social science field.
- 12-14 years of relevant experience with Bachelor’s Degree or 10-13 years of relevant experience with masters, 10+ years with PhD.
- Experience applying AI-enabled methods (e.g., ML, NLP) toward geopolitical analysis.
- Work / research history demonstrating applied experience with social scientific research.
- Work / research history demonstrating applied experience with data science approaches.
- Demonstrated experience providing analytic write-ups oriented towards USG customers.
- Knowledge and experience in use of all Microsoft Office products.
- Willing and able to travel globally to support government customers.
- Current U.S. passport.
- Project management experience.
- Current TS/SCI clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
- PhD in a political science, international relations, area studies, behavioral sciences, sociology, geography, anthropology, or other related social science field.
- Extensive experience working USCENTCOM, USINDOPACOM, and USEUCOM problem sets.
- Extensive experience with campaign / operational assessments, particularly of the information environment.
- Experience providing analytic support to customers beyond just the Department of Defense.
- Joint intelligence or operational experience with U.S. Geographical Combatant Commands.
- Familiarity with the OPIAS contract and its associated requirements.

Target Salary Range
$135,000 – $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
