We are seeking a Operations Production Coordinator to join our rapidly growing team.

The Opportunity:

As the Coliseum’s Operations Production Coordinator, you will set-up, stage, and break-down our event equipment, furniture, and promotional materials, as you lead our general services staff. The Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for leading the assembly of all Coliseum stage assets in accordance to the specifications of the equipment and needs of the event. Ensures that all stages have passed proper safety inspections and approvals. Coordinates stage movements and storage.
  • Accountable for all stage related equipment and certifying that equipment is properly maintained and stored. Perform regular maintenance of equipment.
  • File for appropriate permits.
  • Lead and coordinate efforts for required safety and work-related training for department.
  • Coordinate audio and visual needs for events with other staff members and clients to ensure deadlines are met and completed to specifications. This may include set-up, testing, monitoring, mixing and troubleshooting live sound equipment.
  • Coordinate scheduling, supervision and management of contracted temporary labor.
  • Lead general services staff or others who move, pickup, and/or deliver equipment, supplies, and other materials. Arrange access for furniture moves. Lead relocation of office furniture, equipment, lab materials, etc. Install modular furniture and objects such as framed art on walls. Deliver and install rental equipment and furniture. Repair custom equipment, as needed. Make recommendations regarding rental agreement needs.
  • Assist supervisor with scheduling, supervision, and management of department.
  • Hangs banners and signs from buildings and trees, as assigned. Fixes plexiglass maps, as needed.
  • Assist with remodeling projects, including demolition. Dispose of furniture and materials according to university and state standards and guidelines.
  • Lead others setting-up and breaking-down event equipment and furniture.
  • Operate forklifts and other heavy moving equipment. Operate specialized tools (e.g., jackhammers, pallet-jacks, etc.) as required.
  • Assists other trades such as carpenters, painters, etc. with a variety of duties related to trade, under supervision.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

The Qualifiers:

  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Experience: 3 years
  • Expertise:
    • Three years of experience in moving furniture and general maintenance and guiding the
      work of others. Experience driving 1 ½ ton trucks. Demonstrated ability to learn city and
      state building codes, OSHA rules and regulations, university standards and other
      requirements for work place safety.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in English
    • Valid CA driver’s license required. Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System. A copy of DMV record will be required as a final condition of employment. For more information please visit the policy website .

The hourly rate range for this position is $24.11 – $35.49. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
