Description

Position Summary:

The Operations Technology (OT) Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of technology systems and solutions deployed across the terminal. The OT Manager works closely with cross-functional teams and related vendors to ensure the efficient and effective use of technology is supported for operational processes and achieving business objectives. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and operational knowledge. In particular, the position will oversee hardware devices for all general business needs but extend to operational technology hardware, including gate systems, OCR solutions, and all RTLS infrastructure and equipment solutions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of technology systems used in operational processes, such as gate systems, crane & gate OCR solutions, and RTLS hardware.
  • Monitor system performance, identify issues or bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to optimize system functionality and minimize downtime.
  • Track and inventory all core OT hardware, and order parts with key suppliers.
  • Execute, support, and manage strategic IT terminal project plans.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technology requirements and create roadmaps for the implementation and integration of technology solutions.
  • Coordinate with IT teams and external vendors to ensure seamless integration of operational technology with existing infrastructure and applications.
  • Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance measures to guarantee the reliability and functionality of implemented systems.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on technology products, services, processes, and standards in support of terminal operations.
  • Ensure compliance with security, data privacy, and regulatory requirements for operational technology systems.
  • Ensures compliance with CMA’s cybersecurity policy on all terminal technology.
  • Develops and maintains procedures manual; develops and maintains related technology checklists.
  • Research, evaluate and recommend terminal technology, based on factors such as cost effectiveness, existing capacity and integration with our environment, analyzing a variety of technology and vendor alternatives.
  • Collaborate on problem resolution with vendors, partners, and other technical staff.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Infrastructure.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervise 2 – 100 employees directly and indirectly including vendors.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • BA/BS Degree (MBA Preferred but not required) or ten years related experience in the IT

field, 7+ years of experience in terminal technology and project management as an individual contributor.

  • Ability to work with teams to balance solution vs. budget, schedule, and tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
  • Ability to manage the effort, communicate status and mitigate risks & issues.
  • Experience operating with modern software engineering methodologies and approaches.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five years of project management experience
  • Prior experience in Containerized Shipping Industry
  • Prior experience in supporting terminal technology (Gate systems, RTLS, OCR, IT Hardware)

Salary Description

$120,000 – $175,000
