Summary

Under minimal supervision performs a variety of general laboring activities, including but not limited to sanitation and operating equipment.

Compensation

$30.53 – $41.20

What you will do
• Primary duties include: evaporator operation (SME), boiler operation (SME), resin column operations (SME), and distillery operations (SME).
• Performs duties related to startup, operation, shutdown and emergency shutdown of equipment; ensures all necessary valves are properly positioned prior to startup.
• Operates up to 3 evaporators and 2 boilers simultaneously.
• Operates up to 3 resin columns and 1 distillation column simultaneously.
• Responsible for monitoring alcohol movements to ensure safety.
• Provides guidance and oversight to lower level operators in the absence of the Team Leader.
• Reviews the operations schedule with Team Leader at the start of the shift.
• Reviews assigned equipment status with the on-coming shift.
• Maintains new skills and processes introduced for equipment center operations.
• Follows GMP, PPE requirements, and all other applicable quality and safety policies.
• Moves portable pumps.
• Takes gauges on tank levels by bottom or top gauging methods.
• Builds hose line ups utilizing pumps for product transfer, tank cleaning
• Washes the interior and exterior of tanks.
• Responsible for general housekeeping of the plant.
• Responsible for training employees in evaporator, boiler, resin and distillery operations.
• Performs scheduled treatment and material additions.
• Utilizes tools such as Visual Management Boards.
• Completes, submits, and communicates status of work orders assigned for compliance with regulatory bodies in real time (both manually and electronically).
• Clearly communicates status of assigned jobs with team members to include Cellar/Barreling Team Lead, Operations Team Leader, and peers, as necessary.
• Performs all jobs per standard operating procedures and work instructions: in the event of an Page 2 of 3 error, volunteers facts as related to the error immediately to Team Leader.
• May be utilized for Operator 1, Operator 2, and Operator 3 job functions.
• Operates the equipment centers of the Operator 1, Operator 2, and Operator 3 levels when needed.
• Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
• Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations.

What you will need
• High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 1 year of experience on Operator 3 equipment centers at Cal Color; or 18 months of experience on Operator 2 equipment centers at Cal Color.
• Required to successfully complete the training program for Operator 4 equipment centers within 90 days of employment
• Required to be at least 18 years of age.
• Required to maintain 3 shift availability (day, swing, and graveyard); required to work overtime when necessary.
• Required to lift and move up 50 pounds.
• Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Skilled in writing simple correspondence.
• Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.
• Knowledge of company PSM policies related to ethanol.
• Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

• The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Enviroment
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
• The employee may also occasionally be exposed to extreme cold and high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
