- Responsibilities include:
- Open and close exam lanes and ensure all supplies are stocked.
- Communicate patient flow with the team to keep the schedules running on time.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment and waiting area for patients.
- Completes various documents and forms such as consent forms, FMLA, work releases, etc.
- Take patients’ medical histories, perform workups, and perform ophthalmic diagnostic exams to obtain the information needed for diagnosis
- Operate ophthalmic equipment
- Sterilize instruments to maintain ophthalmic instruments or equipment.
- Assist providers in performing ophthalmic procedures
- Help clinical functions, such as room flow, the status of the patient, and the provider
- Help instruct the patient in the care and treatment of eye conditions
- Assist with applying dressings to the eye post-surgically
- Ensure all medical records are accurate and complete
- Triages phone calls from patients and outside contacts
- Maintain flexibility and perform other duties as required.
