About the Family and Social Services Administration:
The Division of Mental Health and Addiction within the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) sets care standards for the provision of mental health and addiction services to Hoosiers. DMHA is committed to ensuring that clients have access to quality services that promote individual, family and community resiliency and recovery.
The division also certifies all community mental health centers and addiction treatment services providers. DMHA operates six psychiatric hospitals (NeuroDiagnostic Institute, Evansville Psychiatric Children’s Center, Evansville State Hospital, Logansport State Hospital, Madison State Hospital and Richmond State Hospital). DMHA provides funding support for mental health and addiction services to target populations with financial need and administers federal funds earmarked for substance abuse prevention projects.
Salary: This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $39,000.00. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
Role Overview: This role provides administrative support to the State Opioid Response Grant Director and Coordinators in administering the State Opioid Response Grants. These federal grants operate on a two-year cycle and are intended to address the opioid crisis by increasing access to treatment, reduce unmet treatment needs, and reduce opioid overdose related deaths through the provision of prevention, treatment and recovery activities for opioid use disorder. The SOR grant funds a widely diverse array of programs focused on prevention, treatment, and recovery. This position will be responsible for providing support in preparing documents during the contracting processes, collecting reporting, coordinating and moderating meetings between SOR Team and partnering agencies and vendors, management of documents pertaining to online billing system, and other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have an associate’s degree in a health service related field, a bachelor’s degree is preferred. An understanding of community needs concerning addiction and substance abuse is very desirable. Training, experience, or course work involving psychology, addiction, public health principles, or political science would be beneficial.
About the Job:
As the Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for working within an office environment to support your agency with the required tasks to complete the position’s responsibilities. In this position, you will be required to have experience in an office environment creating and/or maintaining established procedures. In this role you may be working independently, performing various responsibilities, problem solving, and providing a wide range of functions.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Prepare, evaluate, and maintain administrative reports, policies, and procedures for different program areas.
- Responsible for all administrative activities such as sorting mail, ordering supplies, and processing travel.
- Schedule and maintain calendars for meetings, travel, and activities.
- Research and investigate program and procedural problems.
- Manage and direct outgoing and incoming correspondence.
- Administer staff functions in support of program areas.
- Lead or assist on a variety of projects.

What You’ll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
- 6-months of administrative experience.
- Specialized knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of administrative management.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to prepare concise and accurate reports.
- Ability to establish cooperative work relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Working knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to analyze, update, and write procedures and policies.
- Ability to problem solve and create solutions.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
