Operations Analyst- Data & Reporting, Quality Analytics

Being an Operations Analyst requires a diverse set of skills to effectively gather, interpret, project, and communicate data-driven insights. Crucial part of analysis and reporting is collecting accurate reliable data. The Operations Analyst will work hand in hand with the Quality Engineering team, Defect Management and report into the Trials Manager. He/she will work closely with various quality & engineering teams across the Comcast/Sky/NBCU family of companies by supporting core initiatives, building collaborative working groups, sharing knowledge, expertise, and tooling. This role will assist in the development and design of new reporting tools and dashboards to showcasing the collective output of the quality and trials teams to our leadership group across the Global Streaming Platform organization.

Key to this role is a person with an analytical mindset and the ability to examine data, identify trends, patterns, relationships and draw conclusions from the information on gaps, and identify areas of improvements and need for establishment of new processes. Analyst must exhibit Data Management skills in ability to clearly define type of data to be needed, and the specific metric to be measured to ensure it aligns with the project’s goals and objectives. Must have attention to details in spotting errors, inconsistencies, or irregularities in data, as accuracy is crucial for producing reliable insights. Analyst must constantly monitor data collection process to identify any potential issues, enhancements, or inconsistencies in the data source, (Jira) and make updates to, SQL queries, effected by changes in JIRA database, forms, fields, flows, to allow for timely corrective actions and ensuring data accuracy throughout the project needed for reliable reporting. Analyst must have the capability to manipulate and prepare the data in more agile ways that respond to business needs more quickly and effectively and can be projected to the executives. Analyst must have quantitative skills in working with numbers and data, including statistical analysis, data modeling, along with data visualization skills in being able to present holistic data in visually compelling manner through graphs charts to aid understanding and decision making by executives.

  • Align with QA Engineering, Defect Management, Trials and Operational QA teams to support data collection, integration and reporting strategies
  • Build and maintain dashboards and tools from various data sources and systems including but not limited to Adobe Analytics, Jira, Confluence, and Test Rail
  • Demonstrable experience with agile delivery methodology, test tools and defect management
  • Assist the Defect Manager in gathering feedback from PMO, QA and engineering teams to drive alignment and resolutions
  • Ensure that all data and quality metrics are accurately reflected in all deliverables
  • Assist the Trials team with reporting enhancements to deliver robust quantitative data insights
  • Take ownership of requirements from inception through to implementation
  • Maintain overarching documentation, including processes and flows, to ensure clear documentation of the reporting capabilities and repository management.
  • Provide insight on opportunities to simplify requirements or leverage existing platform capabilities to greater effect on the business
  • Lead and partner across workstreams to support stakeholder communications & program status
  • Coordinate and manage change control in adherence to governance standards
  • Facilitate agile delivery of technology process and gain an understanding of streaming technology workflow

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with background in Computer or Data Science, Business or Technology Minimum 6+ years’ experience working in visualization & reporting tools
  • Working knowledge of Quality Assurance processes including but not limited to Agile, SDLC and Defect Management Cycle.
  • Must have a keen understanding of trials, trials management or experimentation.
  • Advanced knowledge of Jira and Confluence including additional features including but not limited to:
    • Executive macros and their integration
    • SQL queries with complex joins, analytical functions, and common table expressions
    • Atlassian confluence tool plug-ins
    • Automated report generation
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, Tableau or Google Data Studio with experience creating workspaces, managing complex datasets, and utilizing best practices for reporting and visualizations
  • Experience developing, designing, and maintaining end to end dashboards to display key performance indicators
  • Build data flows, data mining and storage to support front end-visualization and trend analysis
  • Previous experience working with Smartsheet, Google Sheets, Sales force, Share point, and Airtable
  • Enjoys working in a collaborative team environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities and leverage support team members as necessary
  • Excellent written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the comfort to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Confidence in data storytelling capabilities
  • Enthusiastic about digital media and entertainment

Desired Characteristics/Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the Six Sigma Methodology & Principles as it relates to source data set up for reporting and building dashboards.
  • Previous experience working with Service Now for ticketing & incident management and Adobe Analytics
  • Strong ability to explore and analyze datasets with tools and other data visualization systems, visualize data insights and communicate findings
  • Enjoys learning new technologies and partnering with development teams to implement solutions
  • Passionate about operations and quality, never settling for the status quo – continuously looking for ways to improve and drive efficiencies.
