The Florida Department of Health (DOH) is seeking a creative, organized, flexible, and motivated individual to become an essential member of the Office of Rural Health team.

This administrative, technical, and consultative position requires skills to work as part of a team and independently in the development and implementation of the federal Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility (Flex) Program in our state.
The areas of expertise include data analysis, quantitative and qualitative research, grant writing, public health, hospital finance, hospital performance improvement, quality improvement, community health needs assessments, and population health. The Department works to protect, promote and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county and community efforts.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the following:
- Coordinate the overall activities associated with statutory rural hospitals including but not limited to the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility (Flex) Program
- Participate in the development and administration of the Office of Rural Health (ORH) annual state-wide Flex technical assistance plan for all critical access hospitals (CAH)
- Draft grant applications and reports
- Provide technical assistance to CAH and rural hospitals
- Help identify quality, operational and financial improvement subject matter experts for CAH educational webinars and trainings
- Coordinate quality improvement activities with rural partners
- Develop and disseminate information and data to rural health stakeholders
- Communicate and collaborate with rural health networks, local health councils, area health education centers, critical access hospitals, rural hospitals and clinics, emergency medical services and rural county health departments
- Analyzes legislative bills as well as other departmental reports involving rural health issues
- Collaborates with other Bureaus on rural issues related to chronic disease prevention, community health promotion, minority health, public health preparedness and response, emergency medical services and injury prevention.
- Represent the Office of Rural Health to internal and external stakeholders
- Assist Director and other ORH staff with office budget, grant and tasks as needed

Minimum qualification requirements
Master of Public Health (MPH) preferred. A bachelor’s degree from a college or university with professional experience in social services, public health, health care, communications or education will also be considered.
