The Opportunity:

This position is in the Nondestructive Examination (NDE) Engineering organization, which specializes in developing custom remotely controlled, robotic manipulators and controllers and the associated visual, ultrasonic, or eddy current inspection techniques needed to inspect nuclear reactor plant components. Under direct supervision the successful candidate will integrate into a multi-discipline team of engineers including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers. Activities range from new product development to modification and maintenance of existing systems. This position is located in Lynchburg, VA.

What You’ll Do at Framatome:

  • Participate in the creation of first-of-a-kind solutions to meet customer needs and respond to emergent issues
  • Prepare technical documents to support tool operation or design specification.
  • Perform conceptual and detailed robotic or tooling design utilizing SolidWorks and other CAD packages.
  • Design equipment that must meet rigid quality requirements and maneuver and operate in difficult environments.
  • Support tooling qualification and acceptance testing.
  • Performs other related duties and tasks, as required

Required Experience

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this opportunity:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related degree program; with at least four semesters completed by start of internship.

  • Strong technical problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills

  • Fundamental computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced atmosphere
  • Strong “hands on” work skills (assembly, equipment / tooling checkout and testing, etc.)
  • Exposure to or experience in Dimensional Tolerancing / GD&T (Geometric Dimensional and Tolerancing).
  • Exposure to or experience in 3D CAD
  • Exposure to or experience in Welding and / or Machining

Our total rewards package

The range of base salary for the position is between $19 – $23 per hour, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
