Job Description:

Skilled Stage Technicians assist full-time UFPA crew and rental/touring personnel in the general load-in, set-up, strike, and load-out of various theatrical productions, work calls, and non-theatrical events. Position requires the ability and willingness to work in different areas of specialization regularly.
Additional duties include-
- Common stagehand tasks may include but are not limited to- loading and unloading trucks, pushing road cases, assembling stage sets, hanging & cabling lighting instruments, setting up sound and video equipment, hanging soft goods, set up and strike of orchestra shell, risers, chairs, music stands, tables, and vinyl dance floor.
- Work in close co-operation & communication with Technical Supervisors on the coordination of technical requirements of various events
- Assist in the production of live events utilizing various theatrical devices, spotlights and other lighting fixtures, audio consoles and equipment, video and projection elements, and rigging and moving scenery
- Assist Technical Supervisors with the inventory, maintenance, and repair of all technical equipment, including assisting in the cleanliness and organization of the stage and backstage areas
Maintain a safe working environment at all times by following all established safety policies
Expected Salary:
$15.00-$20.00 commensurate with experience
Minimum Requirements:
General working knowledge of equipment and procedures used in theatre and live show production.
Must maintain a calm and professional demeanor in interactions with guests, coworkers, and client users of the facility.
Capacity and willingness for strenuous manual labor with industry standard equipment and materials.
Successful teamwork with fast work pace and under intense schedule pressure.
Ability to work evenings/nights, weekends and holidays as needed and on short notice.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with touring production in facilities of similar type and size
- Ability to work at significant heights for extended periods of time
- Can be called upon to provide training and supervision of Part-Time OPS Stagehand crew
- Experience in one or more of the following disciplines:
AUDIO
- Understands what a sound system is and how it functions
- Has experience with live music performance
- Basic knowledge of instrument types (Snare Drum, Acoustic Guitar, Cello, Keyboard, etc.)
- Can follow a stage plot and input list to place monitors, mics, stage power, etc., and patch mics in correct order
- Can follow a list to gather equipment from storage locations needed for a performance
LIGHTING
- Can act as crew lead for work calls, including light hangs
- Can act as Head Electrician for smaller rental events
- Has extensive light plot and paperwork comprehension
- Has ETC console experience, specifically, ETC Ion
VIDEO
- Understands signal flow and basic pre and post-production workflows.
- Is familiar with basic terminology as it relates to video production and projection.
- Ability to think for themselves to accomplish tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Can set up a modular operation station for running the different definitions of Video/AV that we provide to our clients.
- Has a very basic understanding of networking and networking protocols.
FLY RAIL AND RIGGING
- Experience with basic operation of manual counterweight rigging systems, fly rail, pin rail, and weight rail
- Knowledge of rigging hardware, ropes and knots, load requirements and various rigging techniques
- Understands basic techniques and order of operations for down/up portions of rigging points
- Must be able and willing to lift and pull 50-70 pounds repeatedly
- Ability to work on catwalks, grids, and ladders exceeding 15′ and higher

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Schedule is highly variable and depends on calendar of events. Hours of work can include daytime, nights, and weekends. Work subject to be maintenance, planning, preparation, technical installation/removal, rehearsals, and/or performances.
