Have you been dreaming of a full-time job in outdoor education program?
We are seeking an experienced Outdoor Program Specialist for our regular, full-time staff to coordinate outdoor programming with special emphasis on programs for troops, day and evening camp programs, and large-scale volunteer-coordinated outdoor events. This specialist provides staff leadership and support to volunteers and Girl Scouts in their participation in and/or delivery of outdoor education opportunities.
Here’s What You Will Be Doing
- Develop and implement outdoor program curricula for activities on Girl Scout camp properties for Girl Scouts, ages 5-17 years
- Create and update (as needed) resources and training to ensure quality of volunteer-led outdoor programs
- Liaise with volunteers in the implementation and delivery of summer day and evening camp programs
- Support delivery of “core camps,” designed to introduce volunteers and Girl Scouts to their first outdoor overnight experience
- Provide support of other large-scale volunteer-coordinated outdoor events
- Partner with Marketing and Communications department in creation of day and evening camp program marketing materials
- Collaborate with Customer Care department to support the registration process for day and evening camp programs
Skills Needed to Win
- Passionate about introducing youth to the outdoors
- Talented in leading youth, ages 5-17, and equally skilled at working with adults of all ages and backgrounds
- Knowledgeable of outdoor program delivery and implementation
- Experience in management of volunteers
- Skilled communicator (oral and written) for variety of audiences
- Provide excellent customer service
- Organized and able to handle multiple, concurrent tasks
- Excellent with Microsoft Office software
- Able to work evenings and weekends, semi-regularly
- Possess valid driver’s license and have access to automobile for travel throughout the Greater DC Metro Area, including camp properties in Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia
- Girl Scout experience, very helpful (but not critical)
