Overview
The successful candidate will provide outreach and marketing support to promote the Utah Assistive Technology Program, a disability-related organization within the Institute on Disability, Research, Policy and Practice that helps provide assistive technology services to Utahns with disabilities. Duties will include networking with other organizations, making public and electronic presentations, attending events, curating a newsletter, and creating marketing materials.The successful candidate must have excellent organization and communication skills and a solid understanding of networking, a disability-related background is preferred. We prefer a bachelor’s in communications, journalism, public relations, or marketing. This is a temporary part-time position that is expected to last until January 16, 2024.
Responsibilities
- Networking
- Attend events (resource fairs, conference table events) and talk to people about UATP and its services.
- Attend council and networking meetings, offer short impromptu and longer prepared descriptions of UATP and its services.
- Website
- Create and post website content; particularly blog posts.
- Print design
- Produce marketing materials such as brochures, pull-up banners and posters
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational skills
- Self-motivated
- A willingness to work some evenings and weekends
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understand and respect consumer confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or marketing
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Have strong people skills
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Good, working understanding of computers (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, website navigation, troubleshooting, etc.)

Funding Statement
The Institute for Disability Research, Policy, & Practice is one of the largest research and outreach centers at USU, and we are largely funded through grants, contracts, and fee-for-service programs. All staff positions at the IDRPP are contingent upon funding, and all senior staff at the IDRPP with graduate degrees are responsible for helping to generate funding to support our operations and growth.
