Summary: Under the supervision of the Contractor Sales Manager or Branch Manager, works directly with contractor customers at job sites and other customer locations. The goal of this position is to increase sales and gain additional customer base through direct sales efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
- Regularly visit job sites and customers at their business sites to offer convenient customer service to assigned accounts.
- Generate sales through existing customers by keeping abreast of current and future projects.
- Actively seeks new customers to increase customer base.
- Expedites solutions to customer complaints as well as related account problems.
- Coordinates efforts of other company managers to resolve account problems, material procurement, and delivery accommodations.
- Maintain an acceptable gross margin to forecast.
- Follow instructions, work without supervision, and complete assignments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Work productively; number of sales per day, add on sales, quotes to orders, suggestive selling, etc.
- Coordinate returns and credits for incorrectly ordered customer orders.
- Attend training and education seminars to keep up to date regarding industry changes and new products.
- Maintains and operates vehicle in a safe, legal manner.
- Maintain valid and clean NYS driver license.
- Adheres to all Company operational and security policies.
- Help collect past-due balances and communicate any negative/positive changes to existing accounts.
- Achieves individual sales goals as determined by Branch budget forecast.
- Meets Williams Lumber criteria for assigned accounts.
- Maintains call reports and hands them in weekly to sales or branch manager.
As with all other jobs other duties may be assigned. Management reserves the right to reassign an individual in this position to another position in the interest of efficient personnel utilization.

Education and / or Experience
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma. At least three (3) years experience in sales, and strong knowledge of building materials, lumber, and the construction trade.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to associates of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardizations exist.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
Valid driver license required to be maintained throughout position assignment as well as own transportation to and from locations. Forklift training and demonstrated continuing forklift operation competency required.
