At the present time, a vacancy exists for a part-time Student Support Specialist within the Migrant Education Program, Student Services Division of the CCIU based out of the Philadelphia region.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required
  • Experience providing in-home instructional services preferred
  • Experience working with bilingual/bicultural students preferred
  • Experience working with Pre-K, school age students, or our of school youth
  • Experience working with community agencies and social services in Philadelphia
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement supplemental in-home educational lessons for students
  • Communicate regularly with participating students’ parents, teachers, guidance counselors and administrators, as necessary
  • Assist with facilitation of the involvement of parents in the education of their children and in the dissemination of information, using translation/interpretation services, as needed
  • Plan and implement parent involvement activities within the Migrant Education program
  • Communicate regularly with community agencies and social services that serve our participating families to keep them informed of the Migrant Education program activities and to identify what services are offered
  • Educate and refer participating families to community agencies, social services and schools to expand the supports offered to them
  • Submit detailed monthly reports of all Migrant services provided to students/families
  • Complete state required data entry for all services provided to students
  • Attend board meetings and community events when needed

Anticipated work days and hours:

Flexible hours up to 18 hrs/week including evenings and weekends as needed
High School Program: Monday – Thursday, 2:30pm – 4:30pm
K-8 Program: Monday – Thursday, 3:30pm – 5:30pm

2022-23 Salary:
$27.73 – $34.66/hr per hour

2023-24 Salary:
$28.70 – $35.87 per hour
