Job Description
The Opportunity:
The Dolls Packaging and Omnichannel Creative team is a group of passionate and inspired designers with the goal of creating outstanding packaging and creative assets for the best toys on earth! The Packaging Manager will lead and inspire a group of designers on a variety of licensed and internal IP brands such as Polly Pocket, Enchantimals, Trolls, and other licensed properties. The Packaging Manager will help create and execute design visions, strengthen the voice of our designers and will be ready for situation in response to the ever-changing business needs. You will guide, nurture and grow your design team to empower the future leaders within the organization.

The Business
- You have a thorough understanding of the packaging development process
- Understand the value of ideation sketches, rough concepts, proof of concept and production
- Have a clear understanding of the Toy industry, especially the dolls and collector category
- You are a strategic design thinker:
- Able to contribute and lead the team to execute on brand design vision
- Bring a fresh POV with innovative design thinking
- Solid understanding of the consumer, target audience, and how to meet the consumer where they shop
- Able to create visual design language and communication
- You are an excellent communicator:
- Able to clearly and confidently present to various audiences, and guide your team to do so
- Effectively communicate product strategy and features through package design/copy
- Partner with E-comm, Marketing and Brand teams to help create assets for an omnichannel approach to brand engagement
- Able to drive consensus among team members and cross-functional partners
- Can give feedback as well as respond to feedback
- You are a collaborator:
- Work with Global Consumer Insights team to test packaging concepts
- Partner with Mattel’s cross-function team of experts in marketing, packaging, engineering and product management.
- Nimble Multi-tasker:
- Able to pivot on projects and strategy when business necessitates
- Occasionally participate in design efforts and task forces as an expert in your discipline
- Can handle projects with varying complexity by maximizing your global design team and internal/external resources
- Can jump into any situation as a hands-on manager to assist your design team

Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- 5 years+ experience in managing designers and leading cross-functional partners in developing packaging and creative assets
- Ability to manage multiple brands, projects and personalities
- Can oversee and direct team workload, assign projects
- Ability to design and develop strategies relating to day-to-day operations
- A passion for problem-solving, proactive in tackling new challenges and working through adversity
- A collaborative and communicative team player who enjoys driving branding and creative vision
- Responsible for supporting the category objectives and manages team resources
- On top of trends in the toy space and adjacent industries
- Strong negotiation & relationship building skills
The annual base salary range for this position is between $118,000 and $145,000.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
