Official Position Description:
Travels & collects data & uses a computer (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access; graphical query language (GQL)) to prepare required reports (e.g., summaries, 9-0 conditions & 1-4 element-level tables, reports including photos); performs data-mining, literature & in-field research on the current state of a specific bridge component on Ohios state-system; gathers & integrates all appropriate data (e.g., early failure modes, validate current manuals). Investigates variables (e.g., material supplier, district, structure-type, bridge length, Average Daily Traffic (ADT) & Average Daily Truck Traffic (ADTT), skew, age, plan quantity) for outliers or themes pertaining to performance. Attends installations as schedule allows. Uses computer & related software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) to create PowerPoints for inclusion into inspection training complete with photos & correct assignment of condition & element ratings, & corrects all inventory errors.
Assists in collecting field data related to bridges & culverts (e.g., collects field measurements, uses camera to take photographs) & uses a computer & related software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to prepare related reports to provide information gathered. Assists field operations related to snooper operations (e.g., wears harness while standing in snooper bucket, takes notes).
Assists staff by performing miscellaneous clerical duties as assigned (e.g., uses computer & related software (e.g., Microsoft Word) to type documents; makes copies; maintains files). Travels to participate in quality assurance reviews (QARs).
This is a temporary position involving various duties that will supplement the students major field of study &/or provide experience that is a useful addition to the students education & meaningful preparation for future professional employment.
