Description
If you have a passion for community recreation, excellent interpersonal skills, and an interest in working outdoors, join the Bond Park team as a Park Attendant II. This position will assist with the daily operation of the Bond Park Boathouse and support ongoing park operations throughout the year, including park upkeep and assisting visitors. Candidates should be responsible, enthusiastic, and at least 18 years of age.

This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year.
The position requires a flexible schedule including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Work will primarily take place on weekends.
Typical Tasks
Opens/closes and secures boathouse daily;

Performs daily safety inspections of boat dock and boating equipment;

Unlocks, cleans and prepares boats for rental operations;

Assists patrons on/off boats and provides a positive boat rental experience to customers;

Performs light maintenance and general cleaning of boats, equipment, beach and dock area;

Provides routine information on rules and regulations, departmental policies, procedures and services;

May cover Boathouse cashier duties;

Prepares park for opening through shelter preparation, handling recycling and trash for park, leaf blowing common spaces, and inspecting facilities;

Supports ongoing park operation including events, programs, stocking trail and informational brochures, trail inspection, and park security;

Follows up with supervisor with oral and written reports;

Enforces Cary policies and park rules and regulations;

Performs administrative task as needed;

Performs routine clerical and public contact work involving processing customer inquiries, obtaining and dispensing accurate information concerning park and departmental programs;

Performs other job-related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Requires some knowledge of boating and water safety; general knowledge of park, facility or outdoor center operations; general knowledge of cash collection procedures and retail sales; skill in the operation of common office equipment; skill in interpersonal communication; skill in organization; skill in customer service; skill in oral and written communication; skill in time management; ability to meet the public effectively; ability to complete assignments accurately and prior to the established deadline; ability to communicate effectively; ability to deal with the public in a firm, but tactful manner; ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships with others; ability to acquire knowledge of policies, procedures and services of the center and preserve, division and department; ability to maintain filing systems; ability to work independently on assigned projects and programs; ability to take initiative when necessary; ability to respond calmly to an emergency situation; ability to be physically able to move about the park on rough terrain, and lift moderately heavy items, such as trash bags, marine batteries, canoes and related equipment and supplies.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
Requires education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED.

Requires some customer service experience.

Prefers CPR/First Aid certification. If applicant does not possess certification, then it must be obtained upon employment. Courses are offered by employer.

Must be physically able to move about the park on rough terrain and lift moderately heavy items, such as trash bags, marine batteries, canoes and related equipment and supplies.

Conditions of employment

Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification, and credit history review) prior to employment.
