The agency is seeking a Park/General Maintenance Worker III for Enterprise Golf Course on the maintenance team. Under general supervision, this position performs skilled park/general maintenance work involving considerable responsibility, complexity, and variety. Leads and advises the day-to-day activities of intermittent maintenance staff at the golf course, including planning, scheduling, assigning, and supervising work. Additionally, this position trains staff in equipment operation, grounds maintenance, greens keeping, landscaping, building maintenance, and safety procedures and practices. Incumbents in this class are regularly given independent work assignments but may work as part of a group and performs other related duties as assigned.

The M-NCPPC offers a competitive salary range $37,438 – $66,306 annually at the Park/General Maintenance Worker III level with an excellent benefits package including generous leave, extensive health coverage, deferred compensation plan, employer’s retirement plan, and work-life programs. The hiring range for this position will be $37,438 to midpoint of the advertised salary range and will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Examples of Important Duties

  • Leads and coordinates the day-to-day tasks for intermittent maintenance employees.
  • Performs various manual labor duties including removing trash from the course, string trimming, removing weeds from flowerbeds, hand watering putting greens, removing trees, and performing drainage projects on the course
  • Assist with turf maintenance, landscaping, pesticide applications, tree removals, etc.
  • Determine maintenance needs for the course and develop a schedule for daily maintenance tasks for intermittent staff.
  • Lead and provide support to the Golf Course Maintenance Management Team at Enterprise Golf Course to include scheduling, assigning and leading work.
  • Accurately and effectively recycle Commission waste, including paper goods, plastics, glass, batteries, and other recyclable products
  • Assist at Paint Branch Golf Course and Henson Creek Golf Course when needed.
  • Assist Mechanic and Golf Cart mechanic during the winter months with general preventative maintenance and grinding reels and bedknives.
  • At times, coordinate, order supplies and complete bigger projects on the golf course such as installing drainage, fixing irrigation issues, removing trees and spring and fall aeration.
  • Responds to emergencies and inclement weather conditions such as hurricanes, blizzards, and strong thunderstorms. Summons emergency assistance as appropriate. Opens and closes Commission facilities.

Minimum Qualifications
1. High school graduate or GED, and four years of progressively responsible experience in groundskeeping, building maintenance, or park maintenance; and demonstrated ability to read and understand materials and instructions and write routine records and reports; or

2. An equivalent combination of education and experience.

3. Pass Commission medical examination.

4. Valid driver’s license.

5. Additionally, contingent upon area of assignment, some positions in this class may require:

a. Commercial Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements upon appointment, or the ability to acquire one within six months.

b. Maryland Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator’s certification in the categories appropriate to the work assignment.

c. Certification by the National Playground Safety Institute.

Basic Life and AD&D Insurance (Employee Pays 20%: Commission Pays 80%)

  • Two (2) times base salary; maximum benefit is $200,000 for each
  • Automatic coverage with opt-out provision

Supplemental and Spouse/Dependent Life Insurance (Employee Pays 100%)

  • Supplemental – 1,2,3,4, or 5 times base salary; maximum benefit is $750,000
  • Spouse/Dependent Combination – $10,000/$5,000, $20,000/$10,000, or $30,000/$15,000

Sick Leave Bank (Contribution and Benefit hours prorated for part-time employees)

  • Employees have 60 days from date of hire to enroll.
