Position Information
The City of Brentwood Parks and Recreation Department is seeking an organized, energetic, team-oriented person to join our team. The current vacancy is for the position of Park Maintenance Supervisor. The ideal candidate for this position will have a wide range of expertise in landscape/park maintenance, ability to manage and delegate tasks, skills in problem solving and knowledge of contract management. The Parks and Recreation Department consists of three divisions, including Recreation, Parks, and Administration. This position will report directly to the Park Maintenance Manager.
Specific duties of the Park Maintenance Supervisor assignment include the ability to communicate with the public and/or outside agencies, work with other division supervisors, supervise the work of contractors, develop and implement preventative maintenance programs, and attend Commission meetings as needed. Providing excellent customer service is an integral part of this position!

Qualifications
Education and Experience Guidelines – Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Training:
- Possession of an Associate of Arts degree in business administration with specialized training in parks and landscape maintenance.
Experience:
- Four years of experience in the construction, maintenance, and improvement of parks, landscape, janitorial, and related facilities including one year of lead responsibility.
License or Certificate:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate driver’s license.
- A Certified Tree Arborist and a Qualified Applicators Certificate issued by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation, depending on assignment.
- Possession of an Aquatic Facilities Operator or Certified Pool Operator certification.
- Possession of a Certified Playground Safety Inspector Certificate issued by the National Recreation and Park Association, depending on assignment.

The examination process will consist of:
- Review of applications for minimum qualifications for the position and to ensure all materials have been submitted.
- Panel Board Interview – Applicants possessing these requirements will be invited to a panel board interview tentatively scheduled for the week of June 26th, 2023.
All applicants that pass the panel interview will be placed on the eligible list which is good for at least 6 months and may be extended up to an additional 18 months. This eligible list will be used by the City of Brentwood to fill all current and future openings in this classification as long as the list is active.
