The City of North Las Vegas announces a posting to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Parks Maintenance Worker II. The current vacancy is in the Neighborhood and Leisure Department. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill the vacancy for this classification, for up to one hundred twenty (120) days.
NOTE TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES: Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, non-probationary employees successfully completing the qualification assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to one hundred and twenty (120) days.

• Pay – The starting hourly pay for this position is $21.88 (step 1). All new employees hired for this position will start at step 1 of the range; no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.

• Working Conditions – Working mostly outdoors in an environment with exposure to all typical weather conditions, including travel from site to site, and indoors within various building facilities. THE ROLE:
Performs unskilled and semi-skilled work in the care and maintenance of parks, playing fields, and other landscaped and recreation areas; performs semi-skilled maintenance and repair to park facilities.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Ideal candidate would have prior parks maintenance experience, cleaning drainage structures; digging and backfilling trenches; patching pavement; mowing, removing, transplanting, pruning, trimming and fertilizes parks, playing fields, and other landscaped areas. General labor experience, loading and unloading supplies, cleaning, repairing and painting guard rails and traffic signs, removing debris and clearing undergrowth. Doing miscellaneous unskilled tasks for tradesmen. Able to use a variety of small hand tools safely. Able to use small mechanical equipment safely, weed eater, mower, leaf blower etc. Work independently with minimal supervision. Be motivated, self-starter and a team player.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent and;
• One year of progressively responsible experience performing park, landscape, or horticulture maintenance work.
• Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities, required for the job and to the essential functions of the positions.
Licenses and Certifications
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record and ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.
• Complete an OSHA-10 course in construction/general industry safety and health hazard recognition and prevention within 15 calendar days after hire. Completion card must be continuously maintained while employed in this classification.
• Obtain Nevada State Commercial Driver’s License Class B within one (1) year of hire or reclassification.
• May be required to obtain Swimming Pool Service Technician.
