General Description
The City of Green Bay Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department is seeking a Park Supervisor to perform work of considerable difficulty supervising the construction and maintenance of the City’s parks and facilities. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership and organizational skills.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with additional hours as required.
Hiring Range: $64,189.00 – $71,698.00 annually dependent upon qualifications.

Examples of Duties
Assists Park Superintendent in all phases of park maintenance and related construction and assumes full responsibilities in their absence. Assists the Park Superintendent on safety instruction and procedure outlines.
Investigates complaints of citizens. Communicates park policies and procedures. Secures picnic arrangements with rental customers.
Directly supervises Parks special facilities including aquatic facilities, downtown Green Bay specialized facilities including Leicht Park, Shipyard, and City Deck. Provides necessary input to Park Superintendent to ensure efficient operations.
Assists in preparing and administering the park budget. Monitors and approves payroll records of Park Shop staff. Investigates options with Purchasing Office in hiring of contractors and purchasing materials. Hires and supervises private contractors as directed.
Oversees location and marking of private park utility lines. Oversees and communicates logistics and needs with second shift staff members to ensure park facilities are maintained for constituents.
Minimum Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Park Management or related field.
- Three to five years related experience.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Considerable knowledge of parks, grounds and recreational facility maintenance and construction practices.
Working knowledge of best practices for turf grass management. Good knowledge of supervisory and management techniques, public park programs and recreational facilities, care and maintenance of Olympic-size swimming pools and wading pools. Good knowledge of the safety and legal liability aspects of park maintenance.
Working skill in reading technical construction-related information, maintaining records and preparing reports and planning and supervising the work of others.
Ability to utilize a computer and the required software. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public. Ability to work the required hours of the position.
May be required to demonstrate minimum competency by successfully passing approved tests.
