NATURE OF WORK:
The Street Tree Program strives to enhance the City of Orlando’s existing canopy by installing trees at residential properties within City limits while adhering to City policy of “Right Tree, Right Place”. Scope of the job requires knowledge on tree identification, growth habits and urban landscape limitations. Work is conducted via onsite visits, email, phone and direct communication with City residents and staff. Will work both outside as well as in the office (communication & problem resolution skills needed). Other duties as needed/assigned.

Urban Forestry assisting in
• Tree identification
• Tree disease diagnosis
• Urban forestry management principles
• Hands on learning in the field as well as in the office
• Direct communication with citizens and City staff
• Problem resolution
• Principles of “Right Tree, Right Place”
• Tree Grading Standards
• Planting techniques
• Maintenance requirements
• Other duties as needed/assigned
• Will gain knowledge of modern practices and principals of horticulture, botany and park development
Minimum Requirements
Minimum high school graduate; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and at times perform work under adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, at construction sites, exposure to insects and noise, which requires bending, stooping, and reaching.
Florida driver license required.
City of Orlando is a drug-free workplace; must pass drug screening.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
