Job Summary
Under limited supervision, performs unskilled manual work required in the general maintenance of grounds, buildings and equipment located in various County-owned parks and golf courses. Cleans and prepares work sites and cleans machinery, tools, and equipment. Tears out walls, partitions, pipes, and related structures for building alterations. Drives various vehicles used for transporting work crews, materials, and equipment to and from work sites, and performs a variety of park housekeeping and maintenance activities such as grooming beaches, cleaning toilets and showers, mowing grass, greens, and fairways, and grooming snowmobile trails. May assist higher level maintenance employees in performing rough and finish carpentry, masonry, electrical work, painting, plumbing, and other duties involved in the maintenance and development of park facilities. Patrols Park areas on foot, by motor vehicles, bicycle or snowmobile to ensure the orderly and safe use of park facilities and notifies a supervisor of any unusual or emergency situations. Because of the nature of the services provided by the County parks, employees may be assigned to work at any of the Oakland County parks and may be required to work afternoons, midnights and/or weekends.

1. Must have passed their 18th birthday.
2. Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator’s or chauffeur’s license. Out of country driver’s license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver’s license before the hire date.
3. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical established for this classification.
4. Successfully complete the six (6) month probationary period.
