INTERNAL POSTING- FOR CURRENT CITY OF ENGLEWOOD EMPLOYEES ONLY

POSITION SUMMARY

Assists with general maintenance of the Parks division and all associated equipment. Work some weekends, holiday and special events activities during the course of the year. Normal work week hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Reports to: Open Space Activities Supervisor

Direct Reports: Seasonal Employees

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Operates various parks related equipment including riding mowers, walk-behind mowers, string trimmers, snow plows, etc.

Assists other staff with various maintenance tasks and projects such as mowing, snow removal, special event set up, repairing trails, irrigation repair, pruning, fertilizing, trimming, construction, vandalism repairs, chemical spraying, etc.

Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.

Picks up trash at area parks. Delivers supplies, equipment, and repair parts.

Assists with Farm and Train operations and maintenance.

Assists with Park special event set ups and take downs.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

Prepares and maintains sports fields for games and practices.

Performs other duties as assigned and required.

This position may potentially require weekend, holiday and evening work.

PREPARATION AND TRAINING

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience: One-year experience in park maintenance preferred.

Certifications and/or Licensures: None

An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant job experience may be substituted.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge

Basic knowledge of:

  • equipment operation and maintenance
  • Spanish helpful

Skills and Abilities

Computer Skills – Basic computer skills needed to maintain reports.

Communication -Strong customer services skills needed to communicate effectively with the public.

Mechanical – Strong skills needed to maintain tools, instruments, and devices. Also needed to complete necessary repairs and cleaning duties.

Must be able to operate power tools, hand tools, light equipment, mower, and striper.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is performed primarily outside. Works near moving mechanical parts; exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and humid conditions, hot and/or cold conditions.

HOURLY RATE

$18.00 – $22.00/hour
