Job Description
This position is responsible for handling park management and day to day operations of amusements and concessions at Burlington City Park. The shift leader is responsible for managing all ride operators and concessions employees and shall provide excellent customer service to the public. Regular duties include overseeing opening and closing procedures, maintaining safe and effective ride operations, and coordinating with park staff regarding proper daily ride safety procedures and maintenance inspections. This position is primarily weekend and evening work during the Spring and Fall Seasons but will work Daily during the Summer Season
Examples of Duties
• Oversee procedures to open and close park to include staff and fiscal management.
• Responsible for the safety and security of the park.
• Responsible for ensuring that staff are opening rides in accordance with safety policies and operating procedures.
• Interacts with patrons to ensure a welcoming, friendly, and accommodating environment.
• Responsible for always providing excellent customer service.
• Responsible for handling all accident/incident reports in response to an incident or injury by staff or patrons.
• Uses a two-way radio to communicate with staff throughout the park providing an efficient and speedy means of communication.
• Responsible for handling any emergency that arises during active shifts.
• Responsible for knowing, understanding, and enforcing park policies as necessary.
• Responsible for setting up and cleaning rental gazebos before and after use by patrons.
• Performs basic maintenance on equipment and facilities as necessary, reporting larger issues to Parks Concessions Supervisor.
• Completes additional duties as assigned by the Parks Concessions Supervisor.
Qualifications
• All applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
• Understanding teamwork and possessing a positive attitude are key skills required for applicants.
• Each applicant should possess effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Skills in customer service are essential.
• Ability to operate a POS system for transactions.
• Ability to follow all guidelines as set by the Supervisor and the State Inspection Service.
• Some experience in amusement park or carnival/ fair operations is desired but not required.
Supplemental Information
Shifts will vary depending on Season and Day of the Week. Starting in January and going until June, shifts will be Friday afternoon, Saturday morning or afternoon, or Sunday afternoon. Starting in June and going until August, shifts will be morning or afternoon Tuesday through Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Starting in August and going until the following Summer, shifts will be Friday afternoon, Saturday morning and afternoon, and Sunday afternoon.
The City of Burlington does not offer benefits to part-time positions which require less than 1000 work hours per calendar year.
