Job Description
Performs routine clerical work in a variety of tasks requiring a qualified typist; does
related work as required. Includes weekend scheduling.

This is a part-time position with scheduled hours not to exceed 1,000 a year. This is a seasonal position through the months of May to September.

Examples of Duties

  • Calculates admission fees, receives monies from patrons and provides change.
  • Issues receipts and user group reports when asked or required.
  • Maintain constant connection with DigiQuatics aquatic management software for schedule and reports.
  • Reconciles cash drawer and receipts for daily deposit.
  • Fields and responds to inquiries regarding hours, fees, programs, activities, etc. with appropriate and accurate information.
  • Maintains a clean and tidy workspace and assists in routine upkeep and cleaning of facilities.
  • Files and submits documents appropriately.
  • Sells prepackaged concessions.
  • Provides exceptional customer service.
  • Be enthusiastic and make the pool a safe and fun place for the community.
  • Other duties as assigned, asked or required.

Qualifications

  • General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and clerical
    techniques.
  • Some knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic.
  • Ability to type accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed.
  • Ability to make simple arithmetic calculations and file alphabetically.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to and from work.
  • CPR PRO and First Aid certified (or ability to achieve).
  • Work Permit is required for applicants under the age of 18

Preferred Qualifications

  • One to two years’ experience working in customer service.

Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school,
including or supplemented by course work in typing and secretarial subjects and some
clerical and typing experience.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Work in this class is generally sedentary. Work requires the ability to hear and talk in
order to communicate with the public and other employees. Physical agility of reaching
and stooping are necessary to perform filing duties. Work requires dexterity in the hands
for typing and operation of standard office equipment, visual acuity to read handwritten
and typewritten materials and the ability to operate a computer terminal and cash register.

The City of Burlington does not offer benefits to part-time positions which require less than 1000 work hours per calendar year.
