CLASSIFICATION DESCRIPTION
To provide assistance in planning, implementing and supervising birthday parties in The Centre.
This position reports directly to the Birthday Party Coordinator and/or Centre Recreation
Manager.
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK
Responsibilities
1. Supervise birthday parties held in The Centre.
2. Work in conjunction with parents to answer questions, provide directions, and assure a successful experience by all.
3. Provide quality instruction/supervision to all party participants.
4. Work with supervisors in confirming all party dates, times and areas of building usage.
5. Assist in the recruitment of participants and volunteers.
6. Provide leadership to work effectively with the public, program participants, families, advisory groups and community groups and organizations.
7. Keep accurate records/reports and complete all written records as required.
8. Provide general information on Parks & Recreation activities and facilities.
9. Maintain program area in a clean and orderly fashion.
10. Maintain a positive public image and attitude with good public relations and customer service.
11. Wear appropriate staff uniform.
12. Attend all staff meetings.
13. Abide by all City of Elgin rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Manual.
WEEKENDS REQUIRED – 11AM TO 5 PM
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Qualifications
1. Minimum 17 years of age with prior demonstrated successful experience working with youth/teens in a recreation/leisure activity.
2. Ability to work pleasantly with participants, patrons and fellow employees.
3. Ability to enforce all rules and policies of the City at the facility in a diplomatic manner.
4. Be able to handle multiple duties/tasks.
5. CPR/First Aid certified within 3 months of employment.
