Summary
Performs a variety of professional and administrative work in the supervision of the soccer programs, including the developmental, travel and any future soccer initiatives within Community Recreation. Provides direct leadership of the program and plans, organizes, coordinates, implements, directs, and evaluates recreation activities or services within the program. Supervises support staff which may include part-time year-round and seasonal recreation staff and coaches, contracted instructors/coaches, league officials and volunteers. Works closely with staff to create the overall structure and development of the soccer programs, including the management of all teams, coaches, practice, league and tournament schedules, and player selections. Provides facility and program oversight and management under the direction of the Youth Center Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise the soccer programs and events, including but not limited to tryouts, evaluations, player clinics, coach’s clinics, team/coach/club/administration meetings and post-season events and tournaments.

Coordinates scheduling and logistics of all tournaments and visits and travels to sites as needed.

Responsible for the reconciliation of payments of all soccer referees, officials and soccer related expenditures.

Advises Youth Center Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor on necessary purchases or expenditures to be made for the soccer programs, including but not limited to, contracted professionals, uniforms, equipment, field rentals, tournament reservations, facility and field improvements, and officials.

Responsible for entries and management of all software and website related functions to manage and maintain soccer, player, and team registrations.

Must communicate effectively and clearly with youth participants, adults, and large groups in a professional setting.

Responsible for the organization and scheduling of program events and activities alongside Youth Center staff.

Work effectively with Human Resources to select, hire and train program support staff including but not limited to part-time year-round and seasonal recreation staff and coaches, contracted instructors/coaches, league officials and volunteers.

Demonstrate ability to relate to players of all ages, levels, and abilities.
Ability to recognize and categorize player talent and potential as it relates to team selections.

Design/create coaching criteria and have ability to subjectively evaluate coaches during and after each season.
Create and uphold codes of conduct for coaches, players, and parents.

Conduct and organize coaching clinics and prepare coaches manuals to introduce them to current rules and standards expected within the program.

Observe and evaluate practice sessions and offer guidance where necessary.

Create general guidelines for teams/club relating to team size, age group registration, play time, attendance, conduct and schedule of events per age group.

Assist with transition of players between club and high school/academy/collegiate interests.

Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School diploma. Bachelor’s degree in sport administration or related field preferred.

At least 5 years’ experience coaching youth soccer. Previous experience in club leadership role highly desired.

CPR certification and AED certification preferred.

National Youth License and/or Director of Coaching Diploma preferred.

Possess or obtain advanced certifications in sport and/or experience playing at an advanced level.

PART-TIME (15-24 Hours):

ANNUAL LEAVE: 4 days per year (1 day is equivalent to 4.80 hours). Leave is accrued but not able to use during first 90 days of employment.

SICK LEAVE: 4 days per year. Employees may convert to annual leave 15 hours if more than 2 days have been accrued and unused during the fiscal year.

HOLIDAYS: 11 holidays (If scheduled to work, plus 1 floating day).

BEREAVEMENT: 3 Days for the death of an immediate family member (Parent, spouse, or child) and 2 days for any other immediate family member.

ADMINISTRATIVE SICK LEAVE: Employees who have not used sick leave, leave without pay, or have not lost time due to an on-the-job injury in a 6 month period are entitled to 1 day of administrative leave.

CASH PAY OUT OF VACATION: Employees may request payment of accrued/earned annual leave not to exceed 15 hours at the rate of pay in effect at the time of the request, provided such request is made no later than September 30, 2015 (or as amended every fiscal year).

MILITARY LEAVE: 30 work days every year with pay and the remainder of the period shall be without pay, unless otherwise provided by City Commission.

JURY DUTY: Time off with pay if scheduled to work.

PART-TIME (25 -29 Hours)

ANNUAL LEAVE: 8 days per year (1 day is equivalent to 5.80 hours). Leave is accrued but not able to use during first 90 days of employment.

SICK LEAVE: 8 days per year. Employees may convert to annual leave 30 hours if more than 4 days have been accrued and unused during the fiscal year.

HOLIDAYS: 11 holidays (If scheduled to work, plus 1 floating day).
