This is an hourly/wage position and is not entitled to the Commonwealth of Virginia’s state benefits package. This position is limited to no more than 1500 hours in a 12-month period and averages no more than 29 hours a week.
The Division of Benefit Programs at the Virginia Department of Social Services is currently seeking a part-time EBT Program Specialist. The position will provide administrative and technical support for activities that funnel through the EPPIC Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system impacting the state office, local departments of social services, and other community stakeholders. This position will provide system support to Benefit Programs and to the local department of social services via system monitoring and resolving EPPIC EBT tickets. This position will also provide administrative support for invoice review, manual re-writes, training, and monitoring activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience working in an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system program.
- Knowledge of the state and federal laws, and regulations related to Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT).
- Knowledge of federally acceptable EBT policies and procedures, and an understanding of the EPPIC system.
- Direct experience in reviewing invoices and claims.
- Considerable experience in working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in data review and analysis.
- Strong written and oral skills including the ability to provide comprehensive and concise feedback.
- Ability to professionally engage with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Competency in interpreting, analyzing, and monitoring complex issues.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
Additional Considerations
- Experience working with the EBT process in a Virginia Local Department of Social Services, or at the Virginia Department of Social Services.
- Working knowledge of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the state and federal laws, and regulations that govern the program.
