Position Summary
The Art program at Allan Hancock College, Santa Maria is seeking applications to develop a qualified pool of part-time faculty for possible vacancies.
Positions are available as determined by need during the Fall and/or Spring semesters of the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 academic years.
Essential Functions and Qualifications
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Beginning/Advanced Ceramics, Sculpture, and 3-D Design. Allan Hancock College is accepting applications to establish a pool of qualified candidates to teach remote and/or in-person at the Santa Maria Campus for Spring and Fall 2023 in Art and Design. The ideal candidate will share the Colleges’ commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.
1. Teach college courses in Art (can be all or one of the following specialties): 3-D Studio Art .
2. In addition faculty are required to assist in curriculum revisions and new course development, consult with students during office and lab hours and maintain expertise in current technologies; and perform other professional duties as are required by contract and general institutional needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s in fine arts, art, or art history
OR
Bachelor’s in any of the above
AND
Master’s in humanities
OR the equivalent.
(NOTE: ”Master’s in fine arts” as used here refers to any master’s degree in the subject matter of fine arts, which is defined to include visual studio arts such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, and metal and jewelry art; and also art education and art therapy. It does not refer to the “Master of Fine Arts” (MFA) degree when that degree
is based on specialization in performing arts or dance, film, video, photography, creative writing or other neoplastic arts.)
Academic Background Equivalence:
Related to disciplines in which a Master’s Degree is not generally expected or available. The applicant must have completed at least 24 semester units of coursework in the academic field and must possess at least the equivalent level of achievement and the equivalent in breadth, depth of understanding, and rigor in each of the following:
i) a broad cultural education usually met by the general education requirements for any Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree, and
ii) a detailed study of the discipline in breadth, depth, and rigor, usually met by course work required for the degree major.
Professional Achievement Equivalence:
The applicant must have completed the General Education requirements for that degree and show evidence of outstanding professional achievement and/or substantial training in the requested field. The applicant must submit substantial evidence, which demonstrates that his/her preparation, teaching experience, work experience, and ability are equivalent to those expected from a person who meets the minimum qualifications.

Lecture Rate: $57.72 to $77.18 per hour depending upon education and experience
Lab Rate: $50.28 to $67.20 per hour depending upon education and experience
Activity Rate: $37.13 to $50.62 per hour depending upon education and experience
