Job Duties and Responsibilities
Coral Gables operates under a commission/manager form of government and is well known for its active and involved citizenry. The Part-Time Lifeguard II, under the supervision of the Country Club Fitness & Pool Manager and Lifeguard III is responsible for the safety of patrons at the Country Club. The lifeguard II is to provide safe supervision of patrons, enforce rules and regulations and do related work, including maintenance, as required. Lifeguards may also be called upon to assist with special events, answer inquiries from the public, provide information on pool events and activities and provide exemplary customer service. The ideal candidate must have knowledge of water safety and rescue, first aid and CPR techniques. Have the ability to professionally assess a safety situation and apply the proper first aid/CPR, water safety and rescue skills as needed. In addition, must work within a team environment giving direction when needed and following the direction of others as required. Ability to keep records and prepare reports. Ability to resolve disciplinary problems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with the general public, co-workers, parents, campers and supervisors.
Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent.

Current certification in Jeff Ellis and Associates International Pool and Water Park Lifeguard Training License.

Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification.

Minimum of (1) year experience working as a lifeguard in an aquatics facility.

PART-TIME (15-24 Hours):

ANNUAL LEAVE: 4 days per year (1 day is equivalent to 4.80 hours). Leave is accrued but not able to use during first 90 days of employment.

SICK LEAVE: 4 days per year. Employees may convert to annual leave 15 hours if more than 2 days have been accrued and unused during the fiscal year.

HOLIDAYS: 11 holidays (If scheduled to work, plus 1 floating day).

BEREAVEMENT: 3 Days for the death of an immediate family member (Parent, spouse, or child) and 2 days for any other immediate family member.

ADMINISTRATIVE SICK LEAVE: Employees who have not used sick leave, leave without pay, or have not lost time due to an on-the-job injury in a 6 month period are entitled to 1 day of administrative leave.

CASH PAY OUT OF VACATION: Employees may request payment of accrued/earned annual leave not to exceed 15 hours at the rate of pay in effect at the time of the request, provided such request is made no later than September 30, 2015 (or as amended every fiscal year).

MILITARY LEAVE: 30 work days every year with pay and the remainder of the period shall be without pay, unless otherwise provided by City Commission.

JURY DUTY: Time off with pay if scheduled to work.

PART-TIME (25 -29 Hours)

ANNUAL LEAVE: 8 days per year (1 day is equivalent to 5.80 hours). Leave is accrued but not able to use during first 90 days of employment.

SICK LEAVE: 8 days per year. Employees may convert to annual leave 30 hours if more than 4 days have been accrued and unused during the fiscal year.

HOLIDAYS: 11 holidays (If scheduled to work, plus 1 floating day).
