Description
The City of La Crosse is seeking to hire a part-time Recreation Building Supervisor. Position is expected to work up to 28 hours per week with flexibility available within operating hours. Starting wage is $12.00 per hour. Position is limited term and does not acquire benefits.
Statement of Position
The Building Supervisor is responsible for working at the Black River Beach Neighborhood Center, Community Connections Center and/or South Side Neighborhood Center front desk during scheduled office hours and during events or reservations.
Essential Duties
The Building Supervisor position includes, but is not limited to the following duties and responsibilities:
- Oversees daily programs and reservations as needed for neighborhood center
- Assists in implementing neighborhood centers’ policies and procedures
- Interacts with the public on a regular basis and meets with community groups/organizations as needed
- Establishes and maintains positive, effective working relationships with co-workers, associates and the public, and handles difficult situations in a tactful manner
- Prepare rooms for events including set up and take down of tables, chairs, and other equipment
- Supervises computer labs and the individuals utilizing the computers
- Assists in maintaining the building and grounds including, but not limited to, vacuuming, taking out garbage, cleaning the kitchen and bathroom, and shoveling snow
- Updates/revises announcement boards and post signs/warnings as needed
- Supports program staff with phone calls, mailings, and other duties as assigned
Additional Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist with special events (e.g., Polar Plunge, Competitions)
- Supports program staff with phone calls, mailings, and other duties as assigned
- Evening and weekend work required
- Attend staff meetings as schedule by the Recreation Specialist
- Work with the public to assist with program registration and facility reservations
Relationship to Other Position
- The Building Supervisor reports directly to the Recreation Specialist
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to learn Rec Trac, the department’s registration, reservation and on-line system
