Job Summary
Under close supervision, provides courteous and effective customer services for customers of the City’s Landa Park golf course and pro shop.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
- Oversees the operation of the City golf course pro shop, including greeting customers, scheduling play, collecting fees, merchandise sales, providing effective customer service, and basic facility and cart maintenance.
- Greets golf course guests and provides prompt, courteous and friendly customer services to the public, in order to maintain positive customer relations.
- Collects greens fees and cart rental fees; accurately accounts for funds received, and reconciles cash register sales with daily sales report; prepares accounting reports for receipts and deposits as directed.
- Schedules tee times for daily golf course use and coordinates play.
- Instructs guests in course rules, and enforces rules and regulations governing golf course usage; preserves order in and around pro shop and premises.
- Sells and promotes pro shop clothing, equipment, supplies and merchandise; straightens and stocks merchandise displays.
- Cleans facilities, cleans and inspects carts, and opens/closes facilities as needed.
- Promotes golf course use through public relations and promotional efforts.
- Assists with special tournaments, youth programs and other programs designed to promote the public interest and participation in the sport of golf.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Education, Experience, Licenses and Certifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent, AND one (1) year of golf course work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.
Knowledge, Skills and Other Requirements
Required Knowledge of:
- City policies and procedures.
- Fundamentals of the game of golf and golf course operations.
- Public relations and marketing techniques.
- Principles of basic bookkeeping, record keeping and records management.
- Golf course and equipment maintenance procedures and practices.
Required Skill in:
- Dealing tactfully and courteously with the general public, and providing effective and friendly customer services.
- Maintaining and balancing financial records.
- Selling sports equipment and merchandise.
- Effective communication, both verbal and written.
- Enforcing course and facilities rules and regulations firmly, tactfully, and impartially.
- Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is primarily performed in a retail office environment; on the golf course outdoors in all weather conditions; subject to sitting, standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods of time; and must be able to safely pull, push, lift and carry items weighing up to forty (40) pounds.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays on any assigned shift, including but not limited to daylight to sunset or other shifts scheduled other than 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. May be required to work immediately before, during or after an emergency or disaster.
