Part-Time Senior Center Coordinator – La Familia – AGING

Pay: $16.48 per hour

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, varied hours; up to 20 hours per week.

Assist center staff to develop and schedule activities and programs to expand programming and meet the guidelines in the agreement with Sedgwick County Department on Aging. Researches and coordinates the provision of programming and services that benefit older adults. Manages the MySeniorCenter database to ensure that data is correct and current, and runs reports as necessary. Meets with participants as needed. Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish and English.

Senior Center Programming

  • Assist center staff to develop and coordinate activities/programs to expand programming.
  • Research new innovative programming and services that benefit older adults and programs that could be replicated and offered.
  • Develop partnerships and seek opportunities to collaborate with other entities to enhance and/or expand programming.

Management of the MySeniorCenter Database

  • Coordinates registration and membership to ensure membership/registration is accurate and up to date in MySeniorCenter.
  • Enters all programs/activities offered and coordinated by the senior center in the MySeniorCenter database so all activities/programs are accounted for.
  • Prepares and runs reports on membership, attendance, activities/programs and any other necessary reports.

Advocacy and Assessment of Service Needs

  • Stay abreast of community resources
  • Provide accurate and unbiased information and referrals to Center participants as needed to assist with linking them to the appropriate providers and community resources.
  • Serve as an advocate for Center participants.

Minimum Qualifications: One (1) year experience in the field of aging. One (1) year experience in coordination of services for consumers and/or community collaboration partnership and program development. Valid State of Kansas driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance. Must pass English/Spanish fluency testing with a score of 85% for fluency and 70% for office grammar and spelling.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Gerontology, Nursing, Counseling, Sociology, Psychology, Human Development, and Family Studies. One (1) year experience in the field of aging for an Area Agency on Aging. Licensed Social Worker or Nurse.
