Job Duties and Responsibilities
Coral Gables operates under a commission/manager form of government and is well known for its active and involved citizenry. The Part-Time Specialized Fitness Coordinator may be assigned to coordinate and teach fitness programs at the War Memorial Youth Center.
This part-time position is under the supervision of the facility Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor. The instructor is responsible for coordinating, instructing, demonstrating, planning, preparing lesson plans and coordinating volunteer instructors for specialized fitness and wellness programs of all levels and ages. Incumbent will ensure 100% customer satisfaction by providing world class programs with a small town feel and through continuous evaluations, follow up care and surveys. Planning, executing and supervising both individual and group activities is a must.
Instructor must demonstrate proper use of equipment, enforce all safety rules, and is required to communicate information verbally. Instructor is frequently required to move arms, legs, torso and etc. while instructing programs. Instructor is expected to increase programming, retain participants, and offer variety of programming to cater to all needs and levels. Instruction of programming should be fun for the participant and instructor is expected to energize and motivate participants. Instructor must be able to adapt and modify techniques and instruction to accommodate participants with different skill levels and disabilities to provide inclusive programming. Instructor may need to meet with participants individually to assist in evaluations of physical ability and class placement.
Qualifications
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of related college course work in specialized program area.
Minimum of 2 years experience instructing in specialized program area.
CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirements.

PART-TIME (15-24 Hours):
ANNUAL LEAVE: 4 days per year (1 day is equivalent to 4.80 hours). Leave is accrued but not able to use during first 90 days of employment.
SICK LEAVE: 4 days per year. Employees may convert to annual leave 15 hours if more than 2 days have been accrued and unused during the fiscal year.
HOLIDAYS: 11 holidays (If scheduled to work, plus 1 floating day).
BEREAVEMENT: 3 Days for the death of an immediate family member (Parent, spouse, or child) and 2 days for any other immediate family member.
ADMINISTRATIVE SICK LEAVE: Employees who have not used sick leave, leave without pay, or have not lost time due to an on-the-job injury in a 6 month period are entitled to 1 day of administrative leave.
CASH PAY OUT OF VACATION: Employees may request payment of accrued/earned annual leave not to exceed 15 hours at the rate of pay in effect at the time of the request, provided such request is made no later than September 30, 2015 (or as amended every fiscal year).
MILITARY LEAVE: 30 work days every year with pay and the remainder of the period shall be without pay, unless otherwise provided by City Commission.
JURY DUTY: Time off with pay if scheduled to work.
PART-TIME (25 -29 Hours)
ANNUAL LEAVE: 8 days per year (1 day is equivalent to 5.80 hours). Leave is accrued but not able to use during first 90 days of employment.
SICK LEAVE: 8 days per year. Employees may convert to annual leave 30 hours if more than 4 days have been accrued and unused during the fiscal year.
HOLIDAYS: 11 holidays (If scheduled to work, plus 1 floating day).
