Description
The City of La Crosse is seeking to hire a part-time Youth Coordinator. Position is expected to work up to 20 hours per week with flexibility available within operating hours. Starting wage is $15.00 per hour. Position is limited term and does not acquire benefits.
The Youth Coordinator will coordinate programs which engage participants of all abilities in therapeutic physical, social, emotional, and cognitive activities, including Camp Shriver and year-round youth programs. The coordinator will work 5 to 20 hours per week during most weeks with up to 60 hours per week during camps.
Essential Job Functions:
- Create, plan and prepare programs
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and managing staff and volunteers
- Manage supplies and purchases
- Facilitate programs
- Assist with adaptation of activities when needed for inclusion
- Discuss needs of participants with the parent(s), as needed
- Create a safe, warm and welcoming environment
- Enforce rules, regulations, and code of conduct
- Assist in a variety of duties at the neighborhood centers, as needed
- Perform other duties assigned by the Inclusive Recreation Coordinator

Supervision:
- Reports to the Inclusive Recreation Coordinator
- Directly supervises staff and volunteers
Relationships and Key Contacts:
- Has frequent contact with Inclusive Recreation Coordinator regarding programs and needs
- Has frequent contact with staff and volunteers regarding the needs of the programs and their role in the programs
- Has moderate contact with site managers and collaborators
- Has moderate contact with Marketing Coordinator
- Has moderate contact with parents regarding participant needs
Qualifications:
- Positive, outgoing, enthusiastic attitude
- Able to commit to work 5 to 20 hours per week most weeks and up to 60 hours during camp weeks, including nights and weekends
- Previous work with individuals with disabilities is helpful, but not required
- Experience in Recreation Management, Therapeutic Recreation or similar field desired, but not required
