Position Description

The (ARTS) manages the city’s public art program, cultural partnerships grant programs, ARTS at King Street Station, the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute (LHPAI), and The Creative Advantage initiative in an effort to foster a city driven by creativity that provides the opportunity for everyone to engage in diverse arts and cultural experiences. In alignment with the City’s Race and Social Justice Initiative, we work to eliminate institutional racism in our programs, policies, and practices.

The Office of Arts and Culture has an exciting opportunity for a temporary Partnerships Program Manager. This position will work closely with the Partnerships, Education, and Grants (PEG) Team of Office of Arts & Culture (ARTS) to manage a portfolio encompassing both annual and one-time grant programs that increase Seattle residents’ access to art and culture and promote a vibrant cultural sector in the city.

Job Responsibilities

The duties of this position involve implementing grant opportunities, day-to-day project management, and stewardship of contracts and relationships with partners and community members. The specific programs this position leads include Hope Corps, Arts in Parks, and Artists at the Center.

  • Ensure accessible, equitable, and accountable grant applications/requests for proposals (RFPs) and their respective peer review panel processes.
  • Steward contracts, reports, and other grant-related documentation, as well as relationships with program partners, applicants, and awardees.
  • Provide inclusive technical assistance support to diverse artists and community groups in the form of workshops and one-on-one consultation to assist with the development of project ideas and application materials.
  • Lead and facilitate program evaluation and assessment. This includes building presentations and reports of program activities and performance/evaluation and documentation to program partners and Office leadership.
  • Help to develop and manage program schedules and budget.
  • Monitor the work of support staff, who facilitate RFPs, support peer review panel processes, issue and manage contracts, and act as point of contact for grantees.
  • Actively participate in outreach efforts for funding programs and support general outreach and community engagement efforts on behalf of the department. This outreach and engagement include in-depth knowledge of funding opportunities across City departments as well as within the arts community.
  • Prepare communications materials such as blog posts, memos, presentations, and reports in coordination with ARTS’ communications team and supervisory staff, as needed.

Qualifications

You will be prepared for this role if you have the following knowledge and skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects and programs on a daily basis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suite, particularly in the Microsoft 365 suite of tools for effective communication, compelling presentations, and reports.
  • Ability to navigate technology and learn new software.
  • Experience in fostering relationships with community groups and/or business groups.
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.

In addition to qualifications mentioned above, you should possess:

4-year degree,

AND

Two (2) years of experience in grantmaking, resource allocation, arts administration, project/program management or other relevant experience,

OR

a combination of education, training and/or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties.

Additional Information

This temporary non-benefitted position is classified as a Strategic Advisor 1, Exempt* and is expected to last until February 16, 2024. This position is exempt from the provisions of Civil Service and FLSA. The full pay range for this position is $91,642.32 – $137,453.04 annually ($43.89 – $65.83 hourly). The salary for this individual role has been identified as $101,288.88 annually ($48.51 hourly).

This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Employees will be expected to be in-office twice a week. Individual schedules will be based on agreement between the employee and their supervisor.

First-round interviews for this position are tentatively scheduled for the week of September 18, 2023 with second-round interviews taking place on the week of September 25, 2023. All interviews are conducted virtually via MS Teams.
