POSITION SUMMARY
The Admitter and Scheduler serves as the face of Ivinson Memorial Hospital. This role is responsible for admitting patients and scheduling exams, providing optimum service to the customer and supporting department to effectively and efficiently to increase patient care.
Base salary starting at: $14.30 / hr
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Demonstrates success in customer service, phone etiquette, communication and organizational skills.
- Schedules/reschedules outpatient appointments for radiology, cardiopulmonary, dietary procedures and makes phone calls to reschedule no-show patients.
- Transcribe physician orders into EPIC.
- Coordinates special procedures between departments and healthcare providers.
- Answers and routes phone calls.
- Coordinates with mammography to obtain prior patient films.
- Coordinates with MRI to obtain needed documentation.
- Gives preparation instructions for each radiology tasks.
- Handles voice mail, scheduling of exams or appointments.
- Coordinates Lab, Surgery and Radiology requirements that are exam specific.
- Obtain and enter accurate demographic information
- Informs caller of items to bring to appointment (i.e. insurance card and picture ID)
- Service patients by making calls to reschedule appointments when necessary.
- Direct calls to other departments as needed.
- Proficiently maintains and uses knowledge of office equipment including, but not limited to fax machines, computers and printers.
- Determines urgency of needed care for patients upon arrival.
- Participates as a team member and is accountable for own work responsibilities.
- Collaborates with all departmental staff to facilitate timely patient care.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
- Attends/participates in staff meetings, in-services, & facility wide meetings as scheduled.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Previous Experience in a hospital setting preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology is preferred, but not required.
CREDENTIALS
- Must have current, valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or must obtain within 6 months of hire and maintain credentials throughout employment with IMH.
