This full-time Patient Appointment Specialist position will work from our centralized call center at our corporate office in Arcadia, CA.
Pay Range: $17/hour – $18.50/hour
The scheduled shift is:
- Monday-Friday, 8:50am-5:30pm (occasional Saturdays and some overtime).
- There is an opportunity to work remotely after successfully passing the introductory period and meeting goals.
What You Will Do:
You will be the first point of contact with patients who need assistance with an appointment at one of our six outpatient radiology imaging centers. In this vital/team work orientated role you will answer a high volume of calls, schedule patients for a wide variety of exams, some of which include: MRI, CT, Ultrasound, and Mammography, DEXA’s and PET scans. The ideal candidate will need to be able to communicate well, be organized and work on a computer answering calls using a head set. Will also be required to sit for long period of time and expected to coordinate patients exams, follow-up calls, work in a call center, and work with team members.
- Schedule the following radiology procedures: Bone Density, Mammography, Ultrasound, MRI, and CT.
- Answer a large volume of phone calls for entirety of work shift assigned.
- Know the preparation and protocols if there is one for each exams being scheduled.
- Obtain doctors orders, authorizations, clinical notes and labs when needed.
- Obtain new physicians address, fax number and NIP number.
- Contact patients when referring physicians request from online portal.
- Must document notes when accessing a patient account.
- Confirm patient’s appointments and preparations.
- Compile a list and schedule patients that request future appointments with specific Radiologist.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Any other duty as assigned by the Director, Manager or Lead.
What You Will Bring:
- One year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting
- Knowledge of medical terminology desirable
- Word processing and computer experience
- Additional appropriate education may be substituted for one year of work experience
- Knowledge of business office procedures, including knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information.
- Skill in operating a computer and photocopy machine.
- Skill in answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.
What Your Work Environment Is Like:
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with extensive contact with individuals and frequent interruptions. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time, operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Must be able to lift 15 pounds. Must be able to see in the normal visual range with or without correction. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
