Responsibilities

Mayo Clinic patient safety system level initiatives. Provides consultation for and administration of information and processes that impact Quality and the practice. Can operate as the functional expert or reference on specified patient safety systems (ex. The Plummer Chart, Patient Safety Reporting and FDA/Medsun). Will provide Enterprise level support for quality and patient safety initiatives.

Clinical and Quality Systems Liaison. Will assist with design and document workflow and make appropriate recommendations that will positively impact operational effectiveness. Provides project management and analysis support for patient safety, reporting and analytics projects. Remains current on an array of activities including clinical processes, analysis techniques, information management tools and methodologies and advises on the proper use at Mayo. Assists in the design, development, methodologies and tools for quality processes, data driven decision making, advanced analytics and planning. Remains current on external trends and regulations related to patient safety and quality methodologies.

Patient Safety Reporting system – business analyst. The position serves as an expert in the design and execution of Patient Safety Reporting, as well as in the application of knowledge and experience to develop and support the reporting and analysis infrastructure necessary for internal and external Quality needs. Serves as a bridge between Quality and other institutional groups pertaining to patient safety. (ex. device/equipment safety). Uses knowledge of health information systems and practices to support issues impacting patient safety.

Resource & Liaison. Serves as a resource for education and training regarding Patient Safety Reporting data, quality improvement, internal process improvements, and external regulatory bodies (i.e., FDA, Joint Commission). Serves as a resource and provides support for additional Quality reporting systems. The Patient Safety Systems Analyst will serve as a liaison to other roles, serving as a resource, providing insights to facilitate exploration of options, navigation of matrix organization, mentoring, training, and orientation.

The Patient Safety Systems Analyst will provide a diverse skillset inclusive of patient safety expertise, analytical and technical acumen, as well as facilitation and improvement capabilities, to support enterprise efforts in pursuit of high reliability care. Provides facilitation and consultation for enterprise patient safety activities. Supports programmatic safety detection & reporting solutions. Provides patient safety expertise for safe use of Electronic Health Record (EHR). Serves as a champion for data literacy and analytics in partnership with multidisciplinary colleagues to proactively deliver safe care and achieve Category of One outcomes. This individual should have the ability to respond to unexpected situations with resourcefulness, flexibility, innovation, creativity, and professionalism. Strong facilitation of multidisciplinary groups and communication skills are imperative.

This Position is 50% Remote; will need to live within driving distance of a Mayo Clinic Campus

Qualifications

Minimum Education and/or Experience Required: (Education Requirements and Experience): Bachelor’s in nursing, Business, Health Information Management (HIM), Management Information Systems (MIS) or other systems-related discipline with 7 years demonstrated related experience. Formal training in business analysis or health information management preferred. Additional Experience and/or Qualifications: (Has Achieved Competency in the Following Areas, Job Knowledge and Additional Considerations): Clinical credentials preferred (RN, LPN, CST, EMT-P, etc.). Demonstrated leadership qualities with exceptional oral and written communication skills required. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.

Additional Qualifications:

Education or experience in one or more of the following preferred: patient safety, continuous improvement, informatics, systems analysis, human factors, working with outside consultants, group leadership and facilitation, interpersonal communication, team building. Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies and analytic techniques, basic statistics, data analysis and graphic displays of information.

$92,456- $138,674/ year; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
