Office of Administration, Division of Accounting (OA-DOA) seeks a qualified professional for the Payroll Unit.
We are seeking a proactive team player who can apply critical thinking & problem solving in order to assist State Agencies and payroll staff with questions, inquiries and processes regarding the State HR System.
What you’ll do:
- Manage any issues that arise regarding ACH changes, bank routing number changes, and employee account changes. Work directly with banking staff to ensure changes are updated in the SAMII HR system.
- Review and submit direct deposit reversals and resends to the Treasurer’s Office each pay cycle to ensure all corrections are made in a timely manner.
- Process statewide requests for duplicate W-2s and 1095s, and assists agencies with any questions regarding the documents
- Review all IRS Lock in letters received by the state.
- Communicate with agency proper tax withholding per IRS regulations
- Review daily payroll rejection reports.
- Work closely with Agency staff to make sure corrections are processed before paycycle
- Reviews and corrects any Social Security Number changes submitted to Payroll.
- Reconcile Savings Bond bank accounts on a monthly basis
All you need for success:
Minimum Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of State Statutes, Code of State Regulations, Statewide and OA Policies relating to payroll.
- Advanced knowledge of SAM II HR, SAM II Financial and the Data Warehouse.
- Ability to create reports and spreadsheets in Microsoft Access and Excel.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the unit and with other OA divisions.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices and ability to apply them to varied accounting transactions.
- Knowledge of Banking Standards in regards to Electronic Fund Transfers (EFT) and Automated Clearing House (ACH).
- Ability to perform detailed work using statistical and financial data.
Two or more years of payroll experience with a governmental agency or a private sector accounting, finance or brokerage firm.
OR
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in Accounting. (Business or governmental accounting experience (above entry level) involving the maintenance or recording of financial data may substitute on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in the required college education.)
