Payroll Supervisor

Position Summary:

Responsible for the supervision of payroll operations as well as optimizing processes and the effectiveness of payroll operations. This supervisor understands and ensures the organization remains compliant with organizational policies and federal, state, and local laws, as well as monitoring and reporting on various regulatory requirements.

Day in the life: In a typical day, a Payroll Supervisor can expect to…

  • Payroll Leadership: Ensure the processing of payroll payments, payroll tax filings, and W-2 forms are accurate and timely; develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance internal controls that follow federal, state, and local laws.
  • Data Analysis and Process Improvement: Collaborate with a variety of levels within the organization about payroll and benefits processes. Identify areas of opportunity, make recommendations and implement solutions.
  • People Leadership: Direct, support, and develop team to achieve goals and project work.

Job Pay & Perks:

Typical starting pay range: $82,000 – $89,000 per year

About You:

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop others.
  • Highly attentive to detail, problem solver, and well organized.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Strong analytical skills, highly articulate, and credible communicator.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local laws as they relate to payroll.
  • Strong sense of personal accountability and self-motivation with a strong customer orientation.
  • Highly Proficient at MS Office and HRIS systems. Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Knowledge and understand of internal controls, standards, and applicable payroll, tax, and employment laws.

Prior Experience & Education:

  • 3-5 years of experience of payroll administration required.
  • 1-3 years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with UltiPro and/or Kronos preferred.
  • Payroll experience for 500+ employee organization preferred.
