Job Purpose:

Under limited supervision, serves as the assigned facility’s Performance Based Standards (PbS)/PREA Compliance Coordinator. Ensures that facility rules, regulations, and guidelines are adhered to in accordance with PbS/PREA standards and agency Policies and Procedures. Ensures that all PbS/PREA Standards are met involving safety, security, order, health, mental health, justice programming, and reintegration. Support the ensuring of the prevention, detection, and response efforts of allegations of sexual abuse in their assigned institution by following procedures outlined in Agency policy and the PREA Juvenile Facility Standards.

Job Duties:

Serves as the Performance-based Standards (PbS)/PREA Compliance Coordinator and assists with implementing, managing, overseeing, monitoring, documenting, and training PREA Standards.

Ensures the daily and accurate collection and input of the assigned facility’s events and incidents per PbS/PREA standards; Serves as an active member of the facility’s treatment team in a confidential manner and supports compliance efforts of standards and agency policies and procedures.

Assists in compiling, analyzing, and entering data into appropriate databases to develop improvement recommendations that can be put into practice to improve the “conditions of confinement.”

Assists with facilitating PREA meetings, assisting with preparing reports, and responding to related inquiries. Responsible for assisting with the administrative investigation of alleged sexual offenses, which may include reviewing event reports and grievance or other related documentation.

Performs other related duties as assigned that support the division or mission of the agency.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Requirements:

A high school diploma and relevant program experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to comprehend and apply SCDJJ policies and procedures and Performance-based Standards / PREA Standards.

Ability to maintain appropriate records and enter data into the internal and external PbS databases, write reports, and assist in developing and monitoring corrective action plans;

Excellent written and oral skills

Ability to effectively lead teams

Proficient in using computers, MS Office and Excel, and DJJ’s proprietary software systems.

Additional Requirements:
Works independently under the general supervision of the Standards Administrator for coordinating PbS/PREA efforts and utilization of quality performance measures.

Routine and ongoing performance evaluations include an annual evaluation.

This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of juveniles within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with juveniles within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided. Routine travel throughout the state is possible.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree and professional experience in Human Services, Criminal Justice, or Social Sciences which may include law enforcement, military, or juvenile corrections.
