DESCRIPTION
The Department of Pediatrics , Division of Neonatology is seeking pediatric hospitalists to provide patient care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the UCSD Medical Center.
Clinicians should be board certified pediatricians with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in general pediatrics. Graduating Pediatric Residents are encouraged to apply. UC San Diego Medical Center – UC San Diego Health is a 582-bed general medical and surgical facility with 26,801 admissions in the most recent year reported. UC San Diego Health is the only academic health system in the San Diego region, providing leading-edge care in patient care, biomedical research, education, and community service.
UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest is a designated Level I Trauma Center, has the only Burn Center in the county and has a level III Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU). U.S. News and World Report’s annual “America’s Best Hospitals” report has repeatedly ranked UC San Diego Health as the #1 health system in San Diego.
The Newborn Intensive Care Unit is a level III, 48-bed unit which is supported by Neonatology UCSD Faculty, Pediatric Hospitalists and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners. UC San Diego Medical Center – UC San Diego Health is also a teaching hospital. There are 9 Neonatal Fellows and UCSD residents who are part of the daily clinical care team.
We are looking for clinicians to provide direct patient care in the NICU in collaboration with the Attending Neonatologist. Assignments will also include responsibility for transport of infants, supervising and educating residents and fellows in training, delivery room attendance, participation in division meetings, program planning and development of provider and patient education information.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Board certified with a minimum of 2 years of experience in general pediatrics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- NICU hospitalist work including management of Level III and level II NICU infants and attending deliveries.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Must be able to obtain and maintain UCSD Medical Staff privileges.
- Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center’s business needs.
