Description
milk + honey is looking for a systems-savvy and hospitality-driven People Coordinator to support the People Team processes across the organization. This position will undertake a variety of administrative duties like HRIS management, managing employee inquiries, and basic people reporting. The ability to work autonomously and efficiently, within the context of a highly cross-functional team, is critical to the success of this role. Our ideal candidate has a foundation of being in service to people, and has a strong working knowledge of HRIS systems (Paycom knowledge is a big plus!) and wants to contribute toward the attainment of goals and results of the People Team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain employee records ensuring all records are updated with changes in employment status as relevant
- Supports the onboarding and orientation process and collaborates with the Talent Acquisition team to ensure smooth and efficient transition occurs for new hires, independent contractors, interns, and volunteers
- Support with the updating of new hire onboarding documents, presentations, and onboarding process
- Responding to employees’ queries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner with a high level of hospitality, including Verification of Employment letters
- Provides feedback and supports in the development of policies and procedures
- Pull and report on weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual compliance-based metrics and KPI’s
- Handles routine labor relations investigations and queries related to policies and procedures; assists in complex matters handled by appropriate management staff
- May serve as the initial point of contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints
- Conducts surveys, interviews, and other research related to human resource policies, compensation and other labor matters; collects information and reports results to Director of People
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, labor relations and human resources ensuring compliance with all Federal & State of Texas legal requirements; Multi-state is a plus
- Regularly answers HR phone line, checks HR voicemail inbox and respond as needed in a timely manner
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience:
- 3+ years of on-the-job experience and/or education in the Human Resources field
- Must be proficient with HR systems (Applicant Tracking Systems and Human Resources Information Systems) ; strong preference for candidate who has worked with Paycom in both the implementation and ongoing maintenance phases
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and be a self-starter who works with integrity while also being a strong business partner (aka: team player)
- Proficient with Google Docs and software applications
- In-depth knowledge of labor legislation and regulations with the ability to stay up-to-date on changing laws to make informed and recommended practices
- The ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
- Excellent communication skills with a flair for interacting with new employees and hiring managers
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to troubleshoot, identify improvements and make simple decisions independently
- Fluency in Spanish helpful

- Ability to travel to milk + honey locations, off-site events, etc. as directed
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines
- Ability to regularly work 8 hours per day, often in front of a computer screen
